HEART DISEASE
D
RAMATICALLY
TR
I
GG ER
E
D
BY DEEP.FRIED
DOUGH
STICKS
IN
A
PATIENT
WITH
GALL
BLADDER DISEASE
The author
relates
a story
of the
triggering
off of heart
disease
in
a
Mrs
Jian with gall bladder disease upon the
taking of Chinese traditional
deep{ried
dough sticks.
The
author went on to
describe vividly a heart-gall
bladder
syndrome
-
bile produced
in
the liver
is
stored and concentrated in the
gall
bladder before
a
programmed excretion
into the bowel for digesting
fat.
As
an
unhealthy gall bladder cannot
lunction
normally, severe problems
arise
in
patients who
also
have heart disease.
Undigested fat
in
the food would cause
flatulence
and
diarrhea
as well as
stimu-
lation
of
the bowel inner lining to cause
a
reflex contraction of
the
gall bladder,
worsening
any
existing
disease there.
Moreover, a chemical called "acrolein"
that
may form with high temperature of
the
oil
may also cause spasm contrac-
tion
of
the
bile
duct, and,
in
turn, intense
spasm
of
the gall
bladder. As
there
is
also a
nervous
system
"networking"
between the heart and the gall bladder,
such intense spasm of the gall bladder
may
cause reflex contraction of
the
coronaries,
with
disastrous
results.
As
it
was considered
safe
to perform
gall
bladder operations
even
in
a
patient
with heart disease, such
operations
were paradoxically deemed beneficial.
