線攝片檢查，發現左側肱骨幹 端有溶骨性
變化，骨質呈不規則的破壞，邊緣模糊。攝胸片和作
CT
檢查，發現左上肺尖有一鴿蛋大小的團塊陰影，邊
緣不整齊。臨床診斷為肺癌，合併骨轉移。真是晴天
的霹靂！
據分析，由於癌症病 位於肺尖部，處於“邊遠地
區”，距離主支氣管較遠，因此咳嗽、痰中帶血、咯
血、胸痛等肺癌的典型症狀，早期均未出現，直到癌
症後期，方陸續出現這些症狀。起初出現的左側肩部
酸痛，其實是腫瘤侵犯肩關節周圍的神經、肌肉和肱
骨幹 端所致，就這樣掩蓋了癌症的真相。由於喪失
警惕，誤診誤治，而拖延時日，使患者失去最佳治療
時機，鑄成大錯。
辛醫生不幸於住院兩個月後離世。
乳腺癌以“落枕”開頭
王醫生系某鄉鎮醫院婦產科醫生，年近半百，平素身
體健康，因右側頸部酸痛半個月，治療不見效，來到
市醫院就診。
半個多月前，王醫生突然發覺右側頸部酸痛，轉頸時
似有阻礙感，她以為是夜間睡眠姿勢不當，造成的“落
枕”，便在當地醫院作針灸、拔火罐、理療等，治療半
個月之久，而未見好轉，於是來市醫院就診。給她作
體格檢查時，摸到右側鎖骨上方有一枚腫大的淋巴
結，同側胸鎖乳突肌近鎖骨處較為緊張。進一步檢查
發現，左側乳房有一櫻桃大小的腫塊，乃摘除此乳房
腫塊作活組織檢查。
病理切片檢查報告為乳腺硬癌。當即作手術治療，術
中發現患者同側胸骨旁、腋窩、鎖骨上下均有一連串
腫大的淋巴結，顯示已有附近淋巴結廣泛轉移。雖然
進行手術“大掃除”，外加“化療”多個療程，可是由於
乳腺癌己屆晚期，發生廣泛的轉移，王醫生最終不
治。
多點心眼 別讓癌魔鑽空子
從以上三位癌症患者悲慘的結局，我們可以看出，癌
症悄悄襲來之初，其症狀未必如書本上所描述的那樣
典型，“開門見山”，一望而知。癌魔往往會“改頭換
面”，“旁敲側擊”，轉移患者和醫生的視線，將人們引
入誤區，不是嗎？就連身為醫生的患者亦未能“洞察其
奸”，及時發覺，以致“大意失荊州”，錯過根治癌症的
大好時機，最終落得個不治身亡。
這不啻為一個慘痛的教訓！
由此可見，對身體突然出現的一些不明原因的異常情
況，決不能掉以輕心，聽之任之，平
時要提高警惕，多一點心眼，別讓癌
魔鑽了空子，奪去寶貴的生命。當
然，最好是“未雨綢繆”，“不治已
病治未病”，對單位職工包括退
休人員，每年進行一次健康檢
查，其項目應包括
驗血、做心電圖、
攝胸片、做“
B
超”
乃至纖維胃鏡檢查
等，以便對疾病及
早發現與及時治
療。
ON THE LOOKOUT FOR CANCERS: "PLAYING HIDE & SEEK"
Cancers may strike in non-typical ways, e.g., cause general symptoms; we may "miss the wood for the tree" - treating the
symptom rather than the cancer, like three of my unfortunate colleagues in the profession. Dr Ma, a physician, around 50 years
old, had colicky tummy ache - like severe cramps on the left and accompanied by vomiting. He was treated as for stone in the
left ureter (urine outlet from the kidney). However later ultra-sound and CT scans showed a cancer of the stomach compressing
on the left ureter but has already spread widely and beyond cure. A surgeon, also around 50 years old, had left shoulder pain
limiting movement but thought to be frozen shoulder; 2 weeks later, X-ray found bone erosion of the left scapula and an egg-
shaped soft tissue in the lungs - a lung cancer spreading to the scapula. Dr Huang, a gynaecologist, nearly 50 years old, had
right-sided neck pain treated by acupuncture and cupping, etc., but was later found to be suffering from cancer of the breast
spreading to the neck. She did not make it even after wide surgical excision followed by chemotherapy. Better be vigilant and to
be on the look out for cancers.
