ln the 80s,
organic germanium
had been hailed as a cure all - "more
than 50,000 cases
of
diseases
like
cancer, rheumatism, high
blood
pressure, skin diseases and chronic
respiratory diseases,
etc.,
were
managed
successfully".
Although
short-term use
of
such
compounds
apparently
did
not seem
to
have
obvious toxicity, chronic administration
had actually caused ineversible kidney
and, later on,
proven
to
be
due
to
organic
germanium.
Even the
strictest
scientific clinical
trials
using
double
blind, controlled
and
randomized tech-
niques
carried out in
China
failed
to
show
any
benefit
for various
cancer
patients.
Moreover, when the evidence
for the "success"
of
the 50,000 cases
were scrutinized, none of the
cases
claimed had any welFdocumented end
points of etfectiveness for the so-called
"success".

all started with
the Japa-
nese
Ministry
of Health permitting the
addition of
organic germanium com-
pounds into certain health-food drinks.
This
permission had
since
been ex-
ploited and
masqueraded as formal
approval
by
the Japanese Government
for curing
diseases.
As the evidence
against organic germanium
is
so
irrevocable, there
is no doubt
whatso-
ever
thal this
compound should
be
banned
from
now on.
