writer, died suddenly on

due
to
"endocardial elastic
tissue
hyperplasia
(ECTH)"

the
inner
membrane
of
the
left
heart
was
thickened
10
times and
acute conges-
tive
heart
failure
resulted. ECTH is
a
rare disease
that results
in weakening
of
the heart muscles and results
in
con-
gestive
heart failure; blood clot(s) may
also form and the arteries
blocked.
Heart failure manifests as
cyanosis
("purple
blood colour"), shortness of
breath, asthma-like attacks
waking
patient up at night
or
liver enlargement
and water collecting in the tummy, etc.
Treatment
is
by diuretics,
regular
follow
up, adequate
rest,
regular
working hours
and
abstaining
from
smoking and drinking.
Mr.
Wang
had
most
of
the symptoms
but
decided
that
it
was
just
due to "lack of fresh aid'! He
continued to drink and smoke heavily
but
never
consulted
any
doctor.
He
was
"working
in
front
of
the
computer
all day''
-
in fact,
he died
in front of
the
computer. We
should
learn
a
good
lesson from the
story
of
Mr.
Wang.
