the
farms in
China
and
other
Asian countries

the wet
markets. Live-animals
market (wet
markets)
which
only mixing
live poultry, hsh,
reptiles
and mammals
of
every
kind. Live
poultry
markets
(mostly
chicken, pigeon,
quail,
ducks,
geese
and
a
wide
range
exotic
wild
-
caught and
farm
-
rarised
fowl).
Removal of ducks
and
geese
(original
source
of influenza
viruses)
from live-poultry
markets in Hong Kong
reduced
number
of influenza
viruses.
But
such
change
has
not
been
made
on the mainland. From the Hong
Kong
1997
outbreak investigation, scientists concluded that
the
HrN,
virus
could
be
transmitted
from poultry
-
to-human
as
well
as
human-to-human
out
of
the
l6
H.N,-infected
patients studied, one
individual, with
no
history of
poultry
exposure.
1996, H5Nr
viruses
were
isolated
from
geese
during
an
outbreak
of
diseases associated
with
4OVa
mortality
in
Guangdong province
in
China.
It
is
clear now H.N,
infected avian since
1957,
but the
H.N, "bird
flu"
incident
in
the
Hong Kong SAR
in
1997
was the
first
confirmed
instance
of
a
purely
avian
virus
causing
respiratory
disease and death
in
humans.
In
that the avian
viruses
could infect
humans
without
acquiring
human
influenza
genes
by
resentment
in
an
intermediate
host.
Emus,
Geese,
chicken
are susceptible
to
the
viral
infection
whereas
Ducks
and
Pigeons
are
more resistant.
