Despite good
efforts,
the
report card was
very
bad.
The
"Children's Development &
Behaviour
Centre" of a hospital found
a
normal lQ
but a marked differential between the
language
and
the operational lQ sub-
sets
-
a
"learning disorded' affecting
reading, writing and arithmetic. ln her
case,
just
the
reading
subset
was
affected. The causation could
be
due
to some
lack
of
adequate oxygen at
some
stage
of
the
brain development,
e.9., during pregnancy or around the
child
birth period.
The parents were dis-
appointed but Eistein also left school
because
of very poor
marks
on
lan-
guage and
history
subjects
but
was later
discovered by his uncle
to
be
a
genius
in mathematics and physics. Such
chiF
dren usually
have normal powers of
social
adaptation
and
could
even be a
major asset
to
society.
The
parents
must understand well and
never
to criti-
cize
nor
to punish
her.
To
build
up
her
self-conlidence and self-respect, she
required additional encouragement ef-
forts
to
strife
to
persevere
and
be
responsible.
She
would eventually
do
well
in society.
