gan, USA, Kelly,
11,
was lound
to
be
"brain
dead"
after a serious
traffic
accident and her parents most kindly
consented
for
organ
donation.
Felicia,
11,
had a grossly dilated heart that
cripples her and threatens her
life.
Shirley
has
such
a
fibrotic
liver
due
to
enzyme deficiency that
she
almost died
from bleeding
of
varices
(abnormal
veins) of the
gullet.
Angus, 33,
was
dependent
on a kidney
dialysis machine
placed
at his
home
for his
kidney
failure
-
he failed to
work.
Scott also
required dialysis and was
waiting
eagerly for kidney transplant. Hence,

surgeons operated simultaneously
on
Kelly to obtain her heart, liver and both
kidneys and preserved the
living
organs
during
immediate
transportation
by air
to
the
recipients
for transplant
if
confirmed to
be
compatible. At present,
Felicia
is
able
to
run, play, skate, cycle
and swim; Shirley's
liver
had
rejection
problems but improved after another
operation; Angus
no
longer required
his
dialysis machine; Scott had consider-
able struggle over relection ol
the
trans-
planted kidney
but
finally made
it.
Thus,
Kelly's presents saved
