HEMISPHERES'
FUNCTION
OF HUMAN BRAIN

1981,
the American researcher
from California Institute
of
Technology,
RW Sperry,
was
awarded
the
Nobel
Prize in
Medicine and Physiology for his
distinguished achievement
in the
field
of
the two hemispheres' function of hu-
man
brain.
His research demonstrated
that each
of the
two hemispheres
of
the
brain has their respective
lunction
and
work
independently.
Evidences lrom
animal (monkey) experiment and clini-
cal observations show
that the
brain
retain
its
function, either
sensory or
motor
function, very well after the two
hemispheres are separated following
an incision
surgery performed
at the
site
of
their
connection Corpus callosum.
This
is
anamazing discovery which may
alter the traditional
theory
that
the two
hemispheres of human brain
must
to-
gether and function as
an
intact single
unit.
